The idea of a Fostoria, Ohio based elevator company came after Harold Davis, one of the companies original founders, was asked in 1920 by a local businessman to convert his hand-operated elevator to an electrically operated device.  Davis was successful in creating a conversion unit that was cheaper than constructing a new electrical elevator, and with his colleague Paul Newcomer (both then working at the Fostoria Sales & Contracting Co.) they began to install them throughout Ohio in 1921, marking the foundation of Davis & Newcomer Elevator Company.

Being family-owned enables us to provide more personal service than our industry’s conglomerates. In most towns our market share reaches 25%.

We possess a complete line of replacement parts for all makes and vintages of elevators, including an extensive inventory for even the oldest systems. With our labor costs lagging the industry level, we can also provide savings on maintenance contracts, service calls, repairs and modernization projects.
